Modern Context
The modern image of the Palaungic peoples is
vastly different from the ancient one of "Lords of the Earth" in
Northern Mainland Southeast Asia. Today we find great poverty by
comparison with the more dominate civilizations who have immigrated
into the Waic and Palaungic traditional homelands.
